Some kernel features last longer than others. Support for forward-edge
control-flow integrity (CFI) for kernels compiled with LLVM was added to the 5.13
kernel, but now there is already a replacement knocking on the door.
Control-flow integrity will remain, but the new implementation will be
significantly different — and seemingly better in a number of ways.
